Mason jars are one of my favorite crafting items, no matter what season it is. I love creating crafts that use them, and they always turn out so cute! These adorable little Mason Jar Lid Snowman will be your new favorite craft this winter once you see how easy they are to make!

How do you make a Mason Jar Lid Snowman?

Step 1: Gather your supplies.

You will need:

Step 2: Count out 18 Mason Jar Rings.

Count out 18 of your silver Mason Jar Lid rings. I used Kerr brand, because every other brand I saw was gold. You can use gold mason jar rings, but they don’t cover as well with the white paint.

I used wide mouth bands, but you could probably use regular mouth bands. I just wanted to make sure the bottom of the snowman would be big enough.

Step 3: Spray paint your Mason Jar Rings.

Next, you will need to spray paint all those lids white. I used to be able to find white Mason Jar Lids at Dollar General, but they didn’t have them this year. I couldn’t find any white metal ones on Amazon either, so paint works.

I use Krylon brand as it covers better with just one coat. If you want to do two coats, you can.

Step 4: String them onto floral wire.

Once the lids are dry, you will need to string them onto a piece of floral wire. All 18 lids need to go on the wire facing the same direction. If you’ve made my Mason Jar Lid Pumpkins, you’re going to follow the same basic instructions for this snowman base.

Step 5: Cut and tighten the wire.

Once you have all the rings on the to make the base of your Mason Jar Lid Snowman, you’re ready to tighten the wire. Use your fingers and twist the wire together a few times. Then use needle nose pliers to twist the wire nice and snug.

Don’t tighten it too tight, or you won’t be able to make the nice, round shape for the base of your snowman. Trim the excess wire.

Step 6: Make your Mason Jar Lid Snowman base.

Now that you have the wire tightened and trimmed, fluff the lids until your base takes shape like shown. Make sure it’s nice and snug, because you won’t want it to be loose, as it’s the base for the rest of your Mason Jar Lid Snowman.

Step 7: Add the top of the snowman.

Initially when I was designing this craft, I was going to craft the top of the snowman out of styrofoam balls, and make his hat, and arms, and scarf etc. Then I saw these cute little guys at Walmart for $1.98, and changed my mind in a hurry. You can also grab a cute snowman online too.

If you want to go the route of making everything from scratch, you could, but I took the easy way out, and I love how the final product looks!

I trimmed the tag and ornament hanger off the top of the snowman. Then I put hot glue all around the center of the mason jar lid base I made, pressed the ornament down, and held it for a few minutes until it had dried.

Let the glue dry for about 10 minutes before moving your Mason Jar Lid Snowman around.
